Privacy Policy

Last updated September 1, 2026

Pentilo is a camera overlay tool for tracing reference images. This policy explains what information Pentilo collects, why, and what it doesn't collect. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate.

The short version

Pentilo doesn't have user accounts. Camera video and any photo you load never leave your device — nothing you point the camera at, or any image you load for tracing, is uploaded, transmitted, or stored on a server anywhere. The only personal information involved is an email address, and only if you choose to make a purchase.

Information we collect

Camera video and reference images. Live camera video is processed entirely in your browser to display the overlay. A reference photo you load — whether the bundled sample scene or your own photo — is displayed locally in your browser and is never uploaded to any server. We have no access to and do not retain any images or video.

Payment and contact information. If you choose to unlock Pentilo, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe shares your email address and payment confirmation with us so we can issue and, if you choose, email you a license key.

License key. When you unlock Pentilo, we generate a license key and store it, along with your email address (if provided) and the associated Stripe payment session, so the key can be verified later — including if you activate Pentilo on a second device.

Local storage. Your browser's local storage holds your license key (if unlocked) so you don't need an account or password. This stays on your device and isn't something we can read from our servers.

Standard server logs. Like virtually any website, our hosting provider (Netlify) and payment provider (Stripe) may log basic technical information such as IP address and request timestamps for security and reliability purposes. We don't use this data for tracking or advertising.

What we don't collect

  • No accounts, usernames, or passwords
  • No analytics or advertising trackers
  • No camera video or images, ever transmitted or stored server-side
  • No cookies beyond what Stripe's checkout page itself sets during payment

How we use your information

We use your email and license key solely to issue, verify, and (if you've enabled it) email your license key, and to handle payment disputes or support requests. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for marketing without your separate, explicit consent.

Third-party service providers

Pentilo relies on a small number of service providers to operate. Each processes a limited slice of information as described above:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Resend — delivers your license key by email, if this feature is enabled
  • Netlify — hosting, and storage of license records (Netlify Blobs)

We encourage you to review each provider's own privacy policy for details on how they handle data.

Data retention

We retain license and payment session records for as long as necessary to honor lifetime license activation, and to meet our own accounting and legal obligations. You can request deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below) — note that deleting your license record will deactivate your license key.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at privacy@pentilo.com. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children's privacy

Pentilo is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Pentilo after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
